Job Advert

One permanent position and
one 12 month maternity cover, fixed term/secondment

We currently have two vacancies within Scottish Health Protection Network (SHPN) - Portfolio Management Team: Health Protection Scotland, based in Glasgow (with occasional travel in Scotland).  Positions available are: one permanent position and one 12 month Maternity Cover, fixed term/secondment opportunity.

Public Health and Intelligence (PHI) is a strategic business unit of NHS National Services Scotland, part of NHS Scotland. PHI provides health protection, health information, health intelligence, statistical, and knowledge management services and advice that support the NHS in progressing quality improvement in health and care and facilitates robust planning and decision making.

This is a unique opportunity to work in national Health Protection as part of a team dedicated to the portfolio management of the Scottish Health Protection Network. This will involve working across different areas of health protection with a variety of stakeholders both within and out with NHS Scotland such as NHS Boards, Scottish Government Health Directorates, local authorities, NHS Education Scotland, NHS Health Scotland, academia and national health protection agencies as part of the SHPN.

This is an exciting and challenging time for Public Health and Intelligence (PHI) and Health Protection Scotland (HPS) as we move to become part of a new Public Health Body for Scotland, to be known as Public Health Scotland.

The Project Support Officer role contributes significantly to NHS Scotland delivery by providing professional input to portfolio, programme, project and service management teams across Health Protection Scotland. Candidates should be able to demonstrate recent experience and success whilst working in a project support or service management support environment.  Knowledge and application of the tools and techniques of project management will be required and a formal qualification such as PRINCE2 at Foundation or Practitioner level would be highly beneficial.

The successful candidates will have an enthusiastic approach and good organisational skills; able to work to a high standard using judgment and initiative to handle day-to-day issues, while balancing time and workload to meet deadlines. You must be results–orientated and be able to achieve these working in partnership, in a team environment. It is vital that you demonstrate the values of NSS with openness, integrity, respect and care being at their heart.

Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.

For an informal discussion on the post, please contact Darren Ross on 0141 282 2910 or darrenross@nhs.net.

Further information on NSS is available from: www.nhsnss.org

Closing date for completed applications is Monday 20th May 2019.
