The post holder will be based at Coathill Hospital in a full time permanent position working Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 4.30 pm to provide administrative and secretarial support to the Director of Public Dental Service and members of the Dental Management Team.

The post holder will have a HNC or equivalent qualification plus experience of working at a senior secretarial level within the NHS, computer and IT skills - knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook, a wide ranging knowledge of office and administrative procedures, the ability to work with people, an excellent verbal and written communication skills, a flexible and adaptable approach to work, organisational and administrative skills, a sympathetic, patient approach and the ability to form congenial working relationships with local dental colleagues and other healthcare professionals and the ability to take direction and work as part of a team through procedures and protocols to meet agreed targets.

The post holder will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent planning and organisation skills, the ability to handle and prioritise a diverse workload, including matters of a highly confidential and sensitive nature, excellent team working skills, the ability to use own initiative to ensure smooth flow of work and achievement of deadlines and timescales, the ability to liaise effectively with management and across organisations, ability to deal with difficult, sensitive conservations with patients/staff, evidence of ability to follow reporting mechanisms, flexibility.

The post holder should have confidence in relating to staff at all levels of the organisation, ability to work under pressure, used to handling cash – collecting patient charges , experience and knowledge gained in a health care setting would be advantageous, knowledge of using patient management systems the ability to co-ordinate and prioritise a wide range of activities, skills in preparing reports and presentations and the ability to work under pressure.
