The Improvement Team has a vacancy for an Improvement Advisor.  The post holder provide improvement support to assist with the delivery of the Lanarkshire Quality Strategy, in particular the Safety Plan, Person Centred Plan and the QI Capacity & Capability Plan.   This includes mentoring and delivery of the Achieving Excellence Quality Improvement Programme (aEQUIP) for Individuals and Teams. The post is fixed term or secondment.  Interviews proposed to take place on 13th November 2019.


JOB PURPOSE


The post holder will work as a member of the Patient Safety Team and will support the Patient Safety Collaborative Improvement Advisors and Head of Patient Safety and Improvement in the implementation of a prioritised plan for patient safety improvement across NHS Lanarkshire and to work with relevant stakeholders and staff groups to ensure the development of a patient safety and continuous quality improvement culture in NHS Lanarkshire.

Lead on a delegated Patient Safety Programme or workstream and manage and coordinate the development and implementation of.
Whilst guidance is available from the Patient Safety Collaborative Improvement Advisor, and Head of Patient Safety and Improvement the post holder has considerable freedom to decide how best to achieve the work programme / work stream.
Actively promote safe and reliable healthcare, an open, just and fair culture and achievement of the aims and goals of the Patient Safety prioritised plan.

Be responsible for the continuing development and facilitate the involvement of staff in relation to the programme. This role will also require the pro active promotion of safe and reliable healthcare, and support an open, just and fair culture and demonstrate achievement of both local and national aims and goals of the various Scottish Patient Safety Programmes.

The patient safety programmes and work streams are innovative and complex and will focus on developing, testing, reliable implementation and spread of improvements that demonstrate safe, reliable and effective care for patients and support the achievement of the board’s organisational wide patient safety aims and goals.

To teach, facilitate, coach, mentor as well as promote the use of improvement science and best international and national practice in improving patient safety as a means of improving the quality of care and reducing harm across NHS Lanarkshire.

This will include reporting to and providing assurance to the Patient Safety Collaborative  Improvement Advisor and Head of Patient Safety and Improvement and will contribute to supporting relevant Executive Sponsors, Clinical Leads, Multidisciplinary teams and the overall development and performance of staff involved in Patient Safety improvement work.
