Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.

Knowledge Management and Discovery Business Unit, within the NES Digital Directorate, deliver digital platforms that provide access to resources to inform practice and learning for the health and social care workforce. The teams support both the management and use of the resources.

What is this role?

This is a temporary post for to March 2023. As a Specialist Lead you will use your expertise to  help educators and business support staff use technology to improve the experience of the learners participating in courses.   

What will they be doing?

Key activities

  • Support educators to improve the use of technology in their programmes and help them to identify the most appropriate platforms and tools to meet the needs of their learners.
  • Develop the Team to support all aspects of synchronous TEL sessions through collaboration with educators in all directorates and the business admin support teams.
  • Coordinate the upskilling of the business support staff in the Directorates to provide the support required pre, during and post-delivery of a synchronous learning session. This will be through training, shadowing and practice sessions.
  • Provide advice on the presentation of learning resources online.
  • Contribute to the facilitation of the TEL Knowledge Sharing Network in NES and external to NES
  • Promote the use of knowledge management tools and techniques that help engage learners and support social learning.
  • Line management responsibilities.

What you'll bring (Add key criteria from Person Specification) ​​​​​​​

  • Experience of supporting delivery of technology enabled learning. 
  • Experience training and supporting users to find, share and use knowledge in a digital environment
  • Experience in using knowledge management tools and techniques
  • High level of interpersonal, organisational and communication skills and a pleasant manner
  • An eye for detail
