2 part-time posts have arisen within Preoperative Assessment and Day of Surgery Admission Unit for an experienced Senior Nurse to join a nurse led team as part of the Anaesthetic service. Preoperative assessment is a busy area that covers multiple surgical specialities ensuring patients are fit or optimised in preparation for elective surgical intervention. The Day of Surgery Admission Unit admits patients to hospital on the day of their planned procedure, providing patients with a calm and quiet environment. This allows staff on the ward to concentrate on patients that require post op care. The department is looking for a diligent individual who can work well under pressure due to the high volume of work in line with government waiting times directives and ongoing service development.
We are looking for someone who has extensive surgical experience within a busy surgical environment, Anaesthetics/Theatres or ITU. The successful candidates must be willing to undergo in house training and assessment to gain competence in aspects of physical examination and assessment for Anaesthetic. A working knowledge of IT systems used in the acute sector would be advantageous. The post holders must be competent in IV drug administration.
The individuals must be hard working; innovative and able to work autonomously within own limitations. Excellent communication skills and teamwork are essential. These posts also require you to take part in teaching nurses and medical students.
An attractive relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is available to successful candidates.
