The Finance Department provides a comprehensive range of accounting and reporting services to all NSS Strategic Business Units.

We are seeking to appoint 2 Accounting Technicians to work within Business Finance.

The post holders will play an important role in supporting the Management Accountant by preparing and monitoring the monthly financial position by ensuring the accuracy in the general ledger, to ensure that income and expenditure is properly accounted for. Also collection and collation of financial information ensuring accuracy to support financial planning.

You will be working collaboratively with the Finance Operations team to analyse, investigate and resolve any identified issues and discrepancies for the financial transactions they are monitoring on an ongoing basis.  Identify potential areas for changes to financial process and services and propose changes that impact their own working area, by highlighting these opportunities to their line manager.  Collaborate with other finance colleagues to share knowledge and best practice and ensure a consistent, high quality of service delivery.

You will have an enthusiastic approach, excellent organisation and communication skills and be educated AAT or HNC/HND in a financial related subject, working towards a professional qualification or have equivalent experience. 

You must be able to show initiative and prioritise work; manage your own workload; maintain high standards; along with an excellent attention to detail.

You will be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
You will have a proven track record as a team player and be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. 

It is vital that you demonstrate the NSS values of working with respect and care, openness and integrity, to focus on our customers, demonstrate commitment to each other and excel and improve. Knowledge and experience of the NHS would be advantageous. The location of the post will be Edinburgh, however, at present due to COVID-19, working from home may be required.

The successful candidates will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check.   Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
