Wards 67 & 68 are part of a regional service that is provided to the west of Scotland.

The department provides a 7 day acute Neurology service as well as a 5 day investigatory service to patients with a variety of neurological conditions. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 to work with the team. The opportunity has arisen to join the team within Neurology at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic staff nurse to join ward 67 and 68

.This 19 bedded ward provides acute neurology care as part of the Neuroscience Service to the West of Scotland. You will work 12-hour shifts to cover the 24/7 service.

As part of ward 68, You will be part of the nursing team providing specialist care within the five day neurology treatment and investigation unit.

As part of the multi-disciplinary team, and without supervision, you will be responsible for assessing, implementing and evaluating programmes of nursing care and in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse or deputy, manage the ward effectively on a regular basis. You must be a registered nurse. Experience in the field of neurology nursing is preferred, but not essential.

You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to patient-centred care, continuing professional development, an understanding of our service, and the specific needs of our patients (or a commitment to learn and develop these skills).You will demonstrate flexibility, and a willingness to participate in service progression and growth. The ability to work effectively in a team is essential. A competency based education programme is in place to support your development.

 

It is essential that you are currently a Registered Adult Nurse with the NMC as holding current full professional registration is an essential requirement for the post,  candidates who do not complete the professional registration section of the application form or who do not hold current full registration may not be considered for shortlisting. The shift pattern for this post is Day and Night shift rotational.
