Primary Care Nurse Practitioner( bank)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic registered nurse to join our Bank Health Team Service within Prison Healthcare, NHS Forth Valley.
NHS Forth Valley has responsibility for healthcare provision within 3 national prisons:
- HMP & YOI Cornton Vale – Female Offenders
- HMP Glenochil – Adult Male Offenders
- HMP & YOI Polmont – Young Male and Female Offenders (16 – 21 years) and adult female offenders.
Each prison has a Health Centre which is staffed by the Healthcare Team comprising of a Mental Health/Addictions Team and a Primary Care Team.
Cornton Vale prison currently holds 80 adult women, with a new facility being built to replace the old buildings, due for completion in 2020.
This post can be located in any one of the 3 prisons.
The purpose of the Nurse Practitioner is to;
- deliver modern Primary care Services, in partnership with Mental Health Care and Addiction Practitioners, as part of an extensive multi disciplinary team within the unique setting of a prison environment.
- operate as a Primary Nurse in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and demonstrate leadership skills and accountability in a nurse-led service who will manage own caseload within a multidisciplinary custodial setting.
- promote wellbeing and provide support, education and deliver a range of interventions to prisoner with health problems
