We are looking for an experienced dentist to join our team to provide high quality dental care for individuals accessing the Unscheduled Care Services in NHS Lothian. Most of this treatment will be provided under GDS regulations.

The role is to lead and manage the NHS Lothian Unscheduled Care Team including staff at the Chalmers Dental Centre, those providing dental care for inmates in the 2 prisons in NHS Lothian (HMP Edinburgh and HMP Addiewell) and those teams providing care for vulnerable individuals falling under the Public Dental Service remit (homeless individuals, those with chaotic life-styles and people who engage in substance misuse).

The ACD will also be responsible for organising, co-ordinating and participating in the NHS Lothian out of Hours service. This service is currently delivered through the Chalmers Dental Centre and St John’s Hospital in Livingston. They will be required to take part in the Public Dental Service Senior on-call rota.

We are looking for a self motivating individual with excellent communication, patient management and clinical skills who can demonstrate leadership and team management qualities and a willingness to support your colleagues within the team and become involved in staff training.

Applicants should have full GDC registration; at least five years experience in providing dental care under GDS regulations and you should preferably have some experience in a senior clinical role.

Experience of working in an unscheduled care environment or working with vulnerable groups will be beneficial.

The successful applicant must be able to obtain a performer number to work within the GDS regulations in Scotland
