Salaried GP – Scalloway Health Centre (Ref: 6773)
Substantive Post with hours which are flexible up to full time
Salary Range £63,655 - £94,900 plus 2% supplement and Distant Islands Allowance of £1,841 per annum pro-rata
A Relocation allowance of up to £8,000 is also available
Escape disillusionment and burn out, and head to Scalloway Surgery in Shetland for decent hours, good quality of life and work life balance, and nature on your doorstep. Due to retirements, we have 1.4 WTE posts to fill, which gives you the opportunity to be flexible in your contract.
Northern Lights in winter. Orcas in summer (although immediate sighting not guaranteed!) What more can you want! We also have stunning coastal scenery (Scalloway is shown in the photo below). There is a vibrant music scene and ongoing festivals and cultural events throughout the year; fabulous leisure centres, swimming pools and indoor and outdoor sports facilities; excellent schools; this is a safe community with very low crime – the perfect place to bring up a family.
Scalloway Health Centre is a really welcoming small practice (3700 patients), with a friendly team and 15 minute appointments. We have paid admin and CPD sessions and additional CPD time for study leave (study budget available on application to Medical Director). Core hours are 8.30am -5.30pm. We have weekly practice meetings with opportunities to discuss clinical cases and non-clinical issues. The local Hospital with A&E and secondary care facilities is 10 minutes away. We also have regular medical educational events locally and by videoconference. If desired, there is the opportunity for OOH shifts and clinics.
