Job Purpose


To ensure the streamlined and effective operation of the NHSL eHealth Infrastructure Delivery, Deployment and Asset functions in alignment with the business and strategic objectives defined in the NHSL eHealth strategy.


The post holder will manage, plan, co-ordinate and supervise activities within this  teams and will work closely with the Head of IT Infrastructure and other IT senior management to identify, recommend, develop and support cost effective IT Infrastructure solutions for all aspects of the organisation.


The services provided by the post holder have a direct and immediate impact on the continuity of patient care to NHSL.


Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:


The post holder should be educated to degree level in a relevant IT discipline with extensive experience in a senior technical supervisory/management role within an Information Technology Department.


The post holder should preferably have experience in a health service environment and have an excellent working knowledge of all NHS and NHS Scotland IT Infrastructure guidelines and procedures.



The post holder must have an excellent working knowledge in PC/Server Operating systems, networking technology and possess an in depth technical knowledge of MS Windows Server, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Active Directory Services.


The post holder may be required to participate in the IT out of hours on-call support service team.


The post requires an individual who can demonstrate the following skills;-

  • Ability to project manage IT Operations projects and deliver on time, within budget and meet all agreed user requirements within a high pressure environment

The post holder must be a car owner and have a full, clean UK driving license to enable the successful dispensation of the duties related to the post.
