Rose Lane Ward

Rose Lane is an 8 bedded area providing inpatient mental health assessment, care and treatment for anyone over the age of 65 living in Midlothian. Patients generally have a diagnosis of a functional illness, although there is scope to provide assessment for people in the early stages of an organic condition.  Our aim is to provide inclusive assessment and treatment in conjunction with quality care which respects and promotes independence, dignity, comfort and wellbeing for our patients, along with engagement and support for their loved ones.

Penny Lane Ward

Penny Lane is a 12 bedded area, where nearly all the patients admitted will have a diagnosis of a moderate or severe dementia. Some are admitted for a period of assessment, and others are admitted to receive specialist complex care, needed to support and manage the challenging symptoms of their illness.  We strive to develop the best care and subsequent plans and strategies to minimise stress and distress and capturing effective person-centred interventions and responses which meet the preferences and needs of our patients. We work closely with loved ones and work collaboratively wherever possible.
