The NHS Fife Pharmacy Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. It serves a population of approximately 380,000 people, and is provided by an integrated team of around 200 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers, Nurses, and Administrators. The team work across Acute and Community hospital sites, General Practices, Mental Health services, and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Fife.

NHS Fife has an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and experienced Pharmacy Technician with a background in primary care to be part of an expanding multidisciplinary team to deliver a clinical role within GP practices and other care settings across Fife.

The Specialist Pharmacy Technician role is a new one for NHS Fife. You will have the opportunity to shape the role and develop the future direction for Pharmacy Technicians and Medicines Management Support workers in Primary Care and have a key role in the development of pharmacy bases. You will lead and manage Senior Pharmacy across pharmacy clusters/bases ensuring consistent delivery of induction, training and developing your team. 

You and your team will undertake a range of roles as per pharmacotherapy service contract including, medicines reconciliation, acute prescription requests and medication compliance reviews.  You will also undertake prescribing audits and medicines efficiency projects and form part of a primary care pharmacy team.

We are looking for a qualified Pharmacy Technician whose career has demonstrated use of initiative, leadership, innovation, project delivery and excellent communication skills. Good team working and interpersonal skills are essential and experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams in any care setting and leading a team is desirable.

You will work closely with practice pharmacists, a range of clinicians and practice/ care home staff. A commitment to continuing professional development is necessary. Further training and support in prescribing systems and clinical roles will be provided.
You should be a registered Pharmacy Technician with post qualification experience. You should also have completed the HNC in Pharmacy Services and Management or completed the BTEC level 4 Clinical Pharmacy Diploma. A recognised assessors qualification, SQA level 9 Management or equivalent qualification or willingness to work towards is essential for this post.
You should have the ability to travel to different locations across Fife although on a day to day basis.
