Job Advert

The post holder will provide professional support and expert advice across NHS Lanarkshire (NHSL) on technical matters related to engineering, building, environmental issues, waste & Computer Aided Facilities Management Systems. Also providing expert technical design guidance and advice to the General Manager, Property & Support Services Division, Property & Support Services Department Heads and Senior Management across NHSL and contributing to minimising Corporate Risks through management of work planning, legislative advice, Hazards/Safety Action Notices helping to achieve corporate objectives with the efficient monitoring and control of energy & environmental issues. The post holder will provide system support and management of the PSSD Information Management infrastructure, managing and administering departmental budgets and cost issues relating to staff, energy, water and waste. Through influencing  participation & engagement the NHSL Property Strategy and provide professional advice in the design of Capital Projects and representing NHSL at Health Facilities Scotland Meetings/ Seminars, chair the National Energy & Natural Sub-Group and represent NHS Scotland on national energy/environmental issues.


The successful candidate will:

Be educated to degree level. Chartered status of an approved technical chartered institution.

Have a minimum of 5 years experience in a Senior Management role preferably within the NHS.

Have specialist knowledge of the current legislation and guidance in relation to the broader fields, which will have an impact on the strategic direction of NHSL.

Have specialist knowledge and experience is required across a wide range of technical disciplines, which would include personnel, finance, building, engineering, energy, environmental/property related & risk management to fulfil the requirements of the post.

Have in depth knowledge of asset & life cycle management.

Have good interpersonal and problem solving skills along with the ability to manage change.

Have considerable communication, interpretation and influencing skills along with people management skills and the ability to operate in a supportive facilitative manner.

Be able to develop and influence strategies within the Property & Support Services Division and other divisions / departments.
