Job Advert

This is an exciting opportunity for pharmacists who are keen to develop their clinical and prescribing skills in a specialist dermatology outpatient setting.  As a member of the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and associated hospitals department of Pharmacy you will be permanently based at Lauriston Building and Chalmers Centre, an enviable city centre location.

These new posts are being funded to enable a more streamlined, one-stop clinical experience for patients attending Dermatology out-patient services. We aim to improve patient flow and the safe and cost effective use of medicines through the development of pharmacist and advanced nurse practitioner out-patient clinics to patients with dermatological conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and acne, monitoring and prescribing high risk specialist use medicines including biologics, immunosuppressive agents and isotretinoin.

We are looking for pharmacists from either primary or secondary care backgrounds who are qualified pharmacist prescribers or who are currently undertaking the course; we will consider those who are willing to undertake the course immediately upon appointment. Applicants must have a passion for delivering high quality patient centred care and demonstrate NHS Lothian core values.  Excellent inter-personal skills are essential with the ability to work with an extensive multidisciplinary team, building professional relationships and acting as a role model for the pharmacy profession.  Contribution to service development will be expected and the applicants must be flexible and forward thinking as we develop the dermatology service in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Given the close proximity of the HIV service, a small element of cross cover for the HIV service will be required as part of this post.  The specialist HIV service at Chalmers Centre serves a population of approximately 800 patients living with HIV.  Participation in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh weekend and public holiday rota is expected of the post holders. There is no on-call commitment.

For further information please contact Joanna Skwarski, Lead Pharmacist, Dermatology and HIV on 0131 536 1606 or 0131 536 1556 or 0131 536 2079 or Melinda Cuthbert on 0788 597 4037.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
