Specialist Quality Assurance Technician – Microbiology Lab Manager
Band 7
37.50 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Regional Quality Assurance Service, Pharmacy Services in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
You will be based at the Regional QA Service, Stobhill Hospital and will be responsible for the design, development, validation and ongoing management of systems and processes required for microbiological testing of manufactured pharmaceuticals and the environment in which they are prepared. This ensures that medicines are of the appropriate quality for administration to patients.
Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practice is desirable but not essential.
You should be a member of the NHS GGC pharmacy medical gas testing team responsible for testing the identity and quality of Medical Gases e.g. oxygen, in hospitals sites in NHS GGC and the West of Scotland Health Boards when required. Piped Medical gas systems are widespread throughout hospitals- wards, clinics and theatres – and used to administer oxygen, medical air and nitrous oxide to patients. To carry out this role, the applicant must be a graduate and eligible for membership of either, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry or Royal Society of Biology. Training will be provided.
