NHS Ayrshire and Arran provide a wide range of health and social care services, including Acute Hospital care & community nursing and social care services.    We are the main provider of Health and Social care to approximately 371 000 people in the Ayrshire and Arran area, including Hospital care. 
We are seeking to recruit around 100 additional Health Care Support Workers/Integrate care workers to help provide support to our nursing, community and home care teams  as we approach the winter months and beyond.  Opportunities are available across most of our community teams and our hospitals sites.

As a Health Care Support Worker (sometimes referred to as Nursing Assistant) you are a hugely valuable support to our nursing, community and home care teams providing care and treatment to our patients. Everyday you’ll be working in close contact with patients carrying out a wide range of tasks assisting patients with what they need to make them as comfortable as possible and at the same time you’ll have a key role also supporting  patient’s family members. 

As part of a multidisciplinary team of Nurses, Doctors, Allied Health Professionals/ social workers, you’ll find that no two shifts are the same, there is always a lot to do and its hard work but one things for sure you’ll go home every day knowing what you have done really mattered and made a real difference helping people. 
As most of our clinical and care services operate across 24 hours 365 days of the year you’ll need to be able to work shifts as part of a rota system.  
We have a variety of full time and part time posts available ranging from 15 hours to full time at 37.5 hours & a variety of shift patterns available.  Your roster will  include working some night shifts, weekends and public holidays. 

What experience do you need? 
•    You don’t necessarily need qualifications to become a Health Care Support Worker what’s really important is that you’re kind, compassionate and thoughtful towards patients, families and colleagues. We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn and who will be positive team members. 
•    You must be able to work as part of a team to deliver an excellent service to the people we support and be flexible in your approach to work 
•    NHS A&A’s Health Care Support Worker/Integrated Care worker posts offer a perfect opportunity for people whose work, education or life experience has equipped them with excellent people-skills and who can also demonstrate good organisational skills and are able to use their initiative when caring for our patients. 
•    Although previous experience of working within a care setting with vulnerable service users is desirable it’s not essential as we recruit on the basis of your character and core values. We will train successful candidates in all of the important things you need to know about when working in a hospital or community nursing/care environment (infection control, moving and handling, falls prevention, confidentiality etc.), and we will support your development during your induction period.
