We have exciting career opportunities available for appropriately experienced pharmacists ready to advance their career and develop leadership and clinical skills within the pharmacy team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert.


We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to make a difference and contribute to transforming hospital services and improving patient outcomes. You will need to be flexible, organised, work well within a team and have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.  You need to enjoy working in a busy challenging environment. You will be a well-rounded practitioner, having completed Foundation Training.  Being qualified as an independent prescriber would be desirable although training opportunities are available for post-graduate study.


We have recently re-designed our clinical pharmacy service into teams and updated the rotations to allow the opportunity for pharmacists to develop their clinical expertise with skills in leadership, managing change and improvement therefore preparing you for advanced practice. You can expect to rotate into Women & Children’s services; Surgery & Critical Care; General Medicine; Oncology & Aseptic; Acute Medicine and Medicine for the Elderly. The postholders will also be expected to contribute to on call, weekend and public holiday rotas.


The pharmacy service within NHS Forth Valley is highly regarded across the organisation with staff working closely with in multi-disciplinary teams.  The clinical pharmacist team is strongly supported by one of the largest and most established clinical pharmacy technician teams in Scotland, who are poised to take their service to the next level.  The department is forward thinking and constantly seeking improvement. We have many opportunities for personal development and you will be supported to undertake clinical leadership training. The Pharmacy Department makes use of modern technologies including robotics.  We have implemented Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) throughout the health board, keeping us at the forefront of healthcare provision.


We are a friendly, dedicated and supportive team.  Team building activities include our cake club, summer picnic, hill walking outings and hospital ball. The hospital, which is situated surrounded by woods and lochs, provides many activities to support healthy lives for staff such as yoga and cycling clubs. Larbert is within 40 minutes of Edinburgh and Glasgow and has excellent road and rail links. Flexible or part-time working patterns will be considered.
