The Occupational Therapy Service requires staff to provide cover for planned changes to working hours and a career break for existing members of staff. The work will involve some in-patient, ICT and community work depending on service needs.
The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team and interagency framework, to support people to maximise and maintain their independent living skills at home, assist with the prevention of admissions where possible, provide in-patient assessment/therapy when required and support discharges to assist the person to remain at home with the most appropriate level of community support structure.
This will involve communicating with the person, families, carers, the MDT and other agencies to achieve this goal. The post holder will be able to seek support from existing staff and to delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate.
The successful candidate(s) should have:-
- BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registration with the HCPC
- Experience of working in the hospital and community settings
- Proven clinical experience working autonomously with adults with a diverse range of medical, surgical and longterm conditions.
- Excellent communication, interviewing and motivational skills
- Some experience of working with people with dementia would be an advantage.
- Full driving licence
