An opportunity has arisen for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to undertake this challenging role within a busy Emergency Department (ED). Evidence of continuing professional development is essential and relevant post-basic courses e.g. ALS, ATLS would be desirable.
The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is a university teaching hospital, operating in the University Hospitals Division of NHS Lothian. The department is the major Emergency centre and is the designated receiving hospital in the event of major, chemical, biological, nuclear or radiation incident for Lothian and the Borders. Patient attendance is approximately 128 000 p.a. or 350 per day and presentations range from minor injuries or illnesses to those who require immediate resuscitation either in hospital or in the pre-hospital setting.
Requirements of the post
- NMC registration
- Accurate and effective written and verbal communications skills.
- Basic IT skills.
- Ability to prioritise.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work well within a diverse team
***Interviews will last approximately 45 minutes. Patient scenarios will be used as part of the interview process where you will be expected to manage a patient presentation and demonstrate organisational and decision making skills***
