The Assisted Conception Service (ACS) at Glasgow Royal Infirmary is seeking to appoint a Band 3 Healthcare Science Support Worker to join their expanding and rapidly developing scientific service. The ACS Unit has undergone major refurbishment of laboratory facilities, outpatients and clinical treatment suite. The new facilities provide state of the art equipment and a comprehensive range of clinical techniques, offering a high standard of treatment tailored to suit individual patient needs.
You will provide support and assistance to the clinical embryology team in the provision of clinical embryology and andrology services provided by the Assisted Conception Service. There will be some direct patient contact as you will be involved in receiving semen samples from patients attending the ACS.
You will undertake formal witnessing procedures as required by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology (HFEA) and assist with the preparation and setting up for treatment. You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the embryology laboratories and stock control. You will also provide admin support to the scientific team.
You are expected to have a flexible approach to work and to adapt to the change in needs of the clinical service, including weekend and out of hours cover if required.
Secondary education to a higher level and HNC in a biological science are required. Experience of working within a laboratory and healthcare setting is essential. The shift pattern for this post is 5 days over 7.
