Located in Leith, Edinburgh, Restalrig Park Medical Centre is a Section 2(c) Practice, within NHS Lothian.  The practice has a list size of 6000.  It provides approximately 35,000 appointments and undertakes an average of 1,300 home visits each year.

The multidisciplinary team consists of Practice Development Manager, GPs, Practice Nurses, Community Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Assistant Practice Manager, Medical Secretary, Administration Support staff and Receptionists.

Successful applicants will provide motivational leadership to the admin and reception team ensuring a high level of secretarial, administrative support to the Practice, acting as first point of contact to our patients, ensuring excellent practice standards are achieved and maintained and facilitate the smooth running of the office functions. The Assistant Practice Manager will also ensure the provision of secretarial and administrative support to the GPs and wider team, as well as deputising in the absence of the Practice Development Manager. 

This post carries financial responsibility – handling incoming cash and cheques, processing income generation sheets, banking cash (approx £1,000 per month).  Authorised signatory for staff appointments, termination and change forms, travel expenses, procurement orders and locum and nurse bank shifts up to £500 per order.  This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week over 5 days.
To provide a high quality, professional comprehensive and pro-active secretarial and administrative service to the practice team. Manage day-to-day workload of the secretaries, administration and clerical team, organising workload to meet practice objectives. Act as the first point of contact for patients and other stakeholders contacting the Practice with more complex enquiries, portraying the Practice in the highest possible professional basis.
