Establishment, implementation and maintenance of a Quality Management System across the Laboratory Departments in NHSL to ensure high standards of operation and meet all of the requirements of:

Directing and supporting departments to achieve mandatory regulation for organisations which include Medicine and Health Regulatory Authority (MHRA), United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), Human Tissue Act (HTA) and Human Fertilisation and Embryonic Authority (HFEA).

Ensures the implementation of new and updated professional guidelines

Provide expert highly specialised advice in all aspects of Laboratory Quality Management.

Responsible for collating overarching annual reports for various mandatory regulatory agencies.

Responsible for the budget associated with a range of United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) and purchase of additional equipment compliant with these processes (60k). 

Responsible for the delivery of NHS Lanarkshire policy for Quality Management in conjunction with the Biomedical Scientist Leads and Service Manager.

Responsible for delivery of training and development for all grades of Biomedical Scientist, Clinical Staff and support staff within laboratories on all aspects of quality management.

Responsible for the electronic quality management system to ensure it meets the needs of the staff and service.

Reports directly to the Director of Access to highlight serious areas of concern.
