Health Improvement Practitioner

Adult Healthy Weight

Public Health Directorate

1 WTE/37.5 hrs per week.

Fixed term for 24 months - Secondments will be considered.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the expansion and coordination of Adult Healthy Weight Programmes across NHSGG&C, engaging with patients from communities at higher risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes and other associated conditions. 

The post holder will have a genuine passion for improving access to services and opportunities for people from under-represented communities. They will also have an understanding of the issues experienced by people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds including barriers to access, cultural and faith needs. 

The post will involve direct engagement with diverse communities & individuals and will require experience of community engagement, particularly with specific at-risk groups e.g. South Asian communities.  

The post holder will support NHSGGC to respond effectively to national Public Health priority 6 “A Scotland where we eat well, have a healthy weight and are physically active” and the national framework for the Prevention, Early Detection and Early Intervention of type 2 diabetes. 

Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
