Health Protection Scotland (HPS) works in partnership to deliver health protection services which enable and support a safer and healthier Scotland. HPS carries out surveillance, working with NHS professionals and local authorities in a variety of ways, gathers health intelligence and data, detects emerging trends and works to prevent infections and hazards, or reduce the effects of these if they do occur.  HPS monitors the extent and impact of infections and other risks to Scotland’s health and helps prepare plans to manage incident or outbreaks, particularly those that may stretch the resources of the NHS in Scotland.  
The Travel and International Health Team of HPS are leaders in the delivery of travel health advice, recommendations and services to both health professionals and the public across the United Kingdom. We currently seeking an experienced nurse to support, develop and improve delivery of this important service. You will be expected to be innovative and drive forward advancement of travel and international health in Scotland.  This will involve the use of digital eHealth technologies and ensuring the continued professional development of the Scottish workforce in the field of travel health. Experience in advising travellers is essential as part of the role involves working at the Brownlee Specialist Travel Clinic and giving travel health telephone advice to health professionals.
You must be a team player and able to co-ordinate your work efficiently and effectively within a larger group structure. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as are well-developed organisational abilities and a flexible approach to working.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check.

Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.
