The Lothian Older People's Psychology Service (LOPPS) provides a highly specialist clinical psychology service across the NHS Lothian area to adults predominantly aged 65 and over and includes those of any age with a diagnosis of dementia.
In partnership with Edinburgh City Health and Social Care Partnership, we are seeking a highly motivated team focused psychologist with an interest in working with older people, individuals with dementia and their caregivers. We are particularly interested in those who have existing experience in working with older people and/or within 24 hrs care settings and those who have completed NES Training for Trainers in Psychological Responses to Stress & Distress in Dementia Enhanced/Expertise Level.
This post will cover two HBCCC wards (Prospectbank, Findlay House & Willow Ward, Ferryfield House) in the North of Edinburgh. These are 18 bedded dementia specialist units for individuals with complex care needs. This post is funded until the end of March 2020, although a business case for dedicated recurring psychology resource to these units is submitted. There has been significant progress in updating staff training according to the Promoting Excellence/NES programmes of training and the current postholder will work with the multi-disciplinary teams on each ward to further embed and implement proactive, preventative and formulation led assessment and intervention in each area.
The post holder would join another full time member of staff working across 3 dementia specialist units (acute assessment/HBCCC) at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. LOPPS have psychology leadership roles in our specialist teams working into care homes supporting formulation driven interventions for stress & distress in dementia and the post holder will have contact and support from this wider group.
You must have an Honours Degree in Psychology and a Post Graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and be registered with HCPC as Applied Psychologist or be eligible for registration.
