Blood Science Team Manager (Band 7) Biomedical Scientist

The NHS Lothian Blood Science Laboratories comprising Haematology, Transfusion, Biochemistry, Immunology and Serology are based on 3 adult sites (RIE, WGH, SJH).
This is an opportunity to develop your technical and managerial skills within a supportive team environment. Our ideal candidate will be HCPC registered, educated to MSc level or equivalent with experience of day to day management of blood science services. The role will be to provide day-to-day management support for the team of Blood Science Team Manager BMS staff under the Blood Science Operational Manager for; corporate issues (Quality, Health & Safety, Training), RIE blood science specific issues, and RIE biochemistry issues. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with proven training and management skills along with specialist biochemistry knowledge; particular experience and knowledge of operating large automated blood science systems in an acute hospital setting would be preferred. This post also involves participation in delivery of the 24/7 blood science service.
You will initially be based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh – Blood Science (Biochemistry) however the post is designated as NHS Lothian Blood Science and you may be required to work on other sites within NHS Lothian.
