NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh city, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian. We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four teaching Boards. We have strategic partnerships with local Universities, Local Authorities and our four Integration Joint Boards. We serve a population of c900,000, providing a range of primary, community based and acute hospital services. We also provide regional and national services across a range of clinical specialties.

We are looking for a highly motivated, professional and enthusiastic individual to lead our financial planning and management within NHS Lothian.  The Director of Finance is an Executive Director of the Board and is the chief source of financial leadership and advice to the Board.  You will have a key role to play in working with senior leadership teams, commercial partners, local authorities and Integration Joint Boards in pursuit of effective financial planning, procurement, contract management, capital planning and corporate governance.  You will also play an important role in forging partnerships with, and influencing, local agencies to ensure widest possible engagement and collaboration in the Boards longer term financial planning.

As an Executive Board Member you will become a Trustee of the Edinburgh and Lothians Health Foundation.

The role is suited to an ambitious and experienced finance professional, ideally with Board level experience in a complex public sector system.  You will be a resilient and inspirational leader with integrity at your core and be able to create a clear sense of purpose and be inclusive of stakeholders.  This post presents an exciting opportunity to influence and shape the provision of health services in Lothian within an integrated landscape working with Integration Joint Board colleagues and other partners.  You will have the ability to influence thinking locally, regionally and nationally.  To take on this challenge, you must have a proven track record of strategic and operational financial management, a commitment to working collaboratively with our stakeholders and with the Executive Leadership team to continue to develop our services for the population of Lothian and beyond.
