Since the Inpatient Psychology Service for NHS Lanarkshire (Adult Mental Health) was established in 2017 demand has increased significantly. Currently, 2.0 WTE Band 8a Clinical Psychologists provide input to 4 acute wards, the Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit (IPCU) and Psychiatric Rehab service across North/ South Lanarkshire (approx. 130 beds). The service is to be expanded with the recruitment of 1.0 wte Band 8C Clinical/Counselling Psychologist and 1.0 wte Band 8A (this post) bringing the full service complement to 4.0 wte.
The service is focused on increasing the psychological mindedness of inpatient settings including training of staff and consultation on complex cases, increasing access of patients and staff to psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.
In particular the provision of consultation on complex cases to the ward based MDT and provision of neuropsychological assessment will be key parts of this role.
This post will also be expected to hold one community clinic per week within one of NHS Lanarkshire’s Psychological Therapies Teams.
