This is an exciting opportunity, offering a service to Adults and Older Adults tier 3 & 4 populations. This post will be hard work, but really stimulating, especially as it will involve all aspects of delivering a psychology service. For example, delivering and assessments to a range of patient groups, as well as delivering training to multi-disciplinary team colleagues, advising colleagues on clinical governance issues, and working closely with NHS Education of Scotland.
We are looking for someone who will work well in a multi-disciplinary team context and liaise well with members of other disciplines, especially GPs and colleagues in primary care and the voluntary sector. The position requires a broad range of clinical skills, because when working in a remote and rural area, one has fewer options for onward referrals, so it is important to find someone who will strive to find the balance between generalist and specialist roles and will aim to utilise support from mainland colleagues in urban Tier 4 services when necessary. With inpatient wards, an emergency department, outpatients, diagnostic services, Dentistry, two GP practices and the Scottish Ambulance Service all under one roof, there are excellent opportunities for close multidisciplinary working to benefit our patients. We are now working towards further investment in our outer island facilities. These developments allow us to drive forward service improvement with confidence.
