Post:   CONSULTANT Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy

Applications are invited for this 10 session post in a well-established Psychotherapy Service in South Clyde. The post is based at in with additional sessional input to Inverclyde. On-call responsibilities will be shared with other consultant colleagues on the South Glasgow and rota. The successful applicant would have GG&C Board wide responsibilities to develop services e.g. mentalization and to deliver supervision to trainees.

The current work main components are clinical and training, including assessment of patients, individual and group psychodynamic psychotherapy and mentalization-based therapy, consultation to other professions and teams, and supervision, teaching and training of clinical staff. The consultant will join a developing department undergoing recruitment for a Senior Adult Psychotherapist post, two Practitioners in Psychotherapy posts and an Adult Psychotherapist, with appropriate secretarial support. The work carried out in the clinic is underpinned by psychoanalytic thinking. 

The successful candidate would be encouraged to take the opportunities available for further education and continuing professional development.  There are active education and audit programmes within the service. The successful applicant would be involved in supervision of doctors in training from CT1-ST6.

Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council, a licence to practice and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the should have evidence of higher Specialist Training leading to a CCT in Psychotherapy or be within six months of confirmed entry at the date of interview.  Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. 

This job plan is negotiable and will be agreed between the successful applicant and the Clinical Director.  NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde initially allocates all full time consultants 10 PAs made up of 9 PAs in Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and one core Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) for CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings.  The precise allocation of SPA time and associate objectives will be agreed with the successful applicant and will be reviewed by job planning process.
