4-5 sessions each week with a move to 8-10  sessions and ownership of the practice.

Practice is run by a single –handed GP who will be retiring on 3rd September 2023 and hopefully continue working as a GP locum for the practice, dependent on the incumbent GP.

8 week annual leave (including public holidays) and 1 week study leave.

Must be registered with General Medical Council and on specialist GP Register List.

Medical defence fee paid by practice.

Starting date 1st March 2023, but willing to wait for right candidate.

We are looking for a positive, motivated GP to join our experienced team.  We are a small, friendly, semi-rural Practice, with historically the youngest population in the Scottish Borders.

Galashiels is the largest town in the Scottish Borders and has excellent local facilities, schools , university campus , recreational opportunities , cinema , two large supermarkets, Tesco and Asda and an excellent rail service to Edinburgh. The home of The Great Tapestry of Scotland was also opened in Galashiels recently.

We are fortunate to have a local General hospital and OOH GP service 3 miles away at Borders General Hospital, Melrose

Our progressive Practice is well established in undergraduate teaching and training of Edinburgh Medical students. Our GMS practice list size is over 2,000 patients, previous high QOF achievement.

We are based within Galashiels Health Centre which offers a variety of services including Community Nursing, Heath Visitors, Midwifery, Dentistry, Podiatry, Dieticians, Speech and Language Therapy and a Sexual Health/Family Planning Service.

Work load manageable with excellent work-life balance. Same day triage and f2f appointments.

Very low visit rate ( 2021 average 1.5 patients seen at home each week )

58% practice population under the age of 44 ys. Borders average 45.7%.

Staffing comprises 4 receptionists, one practice nurse and a pharmacist.
