An exciting opportunity has become available for Clinical Nurse Specialists (Neurodevelopmental pathway) within GG&C CAMHS teams. There are a number of posts available across our Tier 3 community CAMHS teams.  The Clinical Nurse Specialist role will be an integral member of the dynamic multi-disciplinary team and provide leadership and expertise in delivering the CAMHS service outlined in the Neurodevelopmental Specification for Children and Young people.

A Clinical Nurse Specialist is a registered nurse who has acquired additional specialist knowledge and experience.  As well as having completed, or demonstrated the ability to complete, a primary degree they will have the skills and competencies required to manage a caseload within agreed boundaries and protocols in line with clinical governance.  Entwined around this clinical core are ties of consultancy, teaching, management and research and its application.

The post holder will undertake and provide specialist assessment of patient needs, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, which are evidence based within this defined patient group. Utilising all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensure involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others.

The post holder should be able to demonstrate existing clinical skills and experience in this area alongside on-going/postgraduate professional training and development.

The CAMHS teams provide community-based tier 3 NHS specialist mental health assessment and intervention based on the principles of equality, dignity and respect and which takes into account spiritual and cultural diversity.

It is essential you are a first level Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN / RNLD) with current NMC registration and substantial relevant post registration training and experienced as outlined in the attached Job Description.

Non-medical prescribing qualification or working toward this is essential. Good communication and organisational skills are also essential.
