As a major Strategic Business Unit (SBU)  within  NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in manufacturing, product development, biomedical research and donor services.  Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

A vacancy has arisen for a Biomedical Support Worker (BMSW) position within the Processing & Testing Department. Applications are invited from individuals, who are organised and enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills.
Formal qualifications are not a requirement of this post, as full training will be given but personal attributes demonstrating honesty, integrity and a scrupulous attention to detail are essential.

The departmental duties will include undertaking tasks, following controlled documented procedures in areas such as blood testing. This will involve receiving and making telephone calls, manual lifting and moving of stock, record completion and the operation of various IT software packages. The successful candidate will be working with Biohazard material (e.g. Blood) and samples within a laboratory environment whilst adhering to the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice.
