An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Acute Services in NHS Forth Valley as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner working within acute surgical care. The new Surgical Same Day Emergency Care unit will assess and manage the care of patients presenting with a variety of surgical issues including general surgery and surgical specialities. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nurse who will embrace this dynamic and challenging role. Ideally the applicant will be a competent and qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner, however this is an opportunity for an appropriately experienced nurse to join the team as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in training and applications will be accepted from those with the relevant experience and academic qualifications to undertake such training.
The post holder will posses advanced knowledge of the acutely unwell surgical patient thus ensuring their effective management and treatment. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with other acute care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams. They will provide direct patient management in partnership with senior medical staff, have sound clinical knowledge and highly developed clinical decision-making skills in acute care.
The applicant should posses the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, remain focused, and be flexible in an extremely busy environment. The post will support part of the advanced practice team based in FVRH and while the post holder will be based primarily in Same Day Emergency Care they will also provide support to the Surgical Assessment Unit.
