Job Advert

As a vital part of NHS Scotland, NHS National Services Scotland’s purpose is to support Scotland’s Health.  We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on health improvement and delivering world class patient care. The core purpose of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland.  In support of this, the SNBTS Manufacturing Directorate is committed to a programme that will enhance the service provided to NHS Scotland in both clinical and operational areas, through the provisions of a range of standard, specialised and supporting research into new blood components.  SNBTS undertakes a range of activities which are designed to support the strategic and operational priorities of the organisation, achieve high quality and impact and add value to broader NHS and Governmental objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join the Manufacturing Directorate as head of processing.  You will have overall responsibility for managing the Component processing functions ranging from component manufacture, stock inventory control, component issue and implementing best practice.

Applicants for this post must be HCPC registered with further qualifications of either specialist diploma or relevant MSc. Experience of active participation in the delivery of blood component manufacturing and of managing a large number of staff of varying grades in a Blood transfusion environment is essential. It is desirable that you have a recognised management qualification. In particular you will optimise the opportunity as a leader to engage your team in the management of change required to deliver the Manufacturing and SNBTS strategic plans. This will involve effective workforce and financial planning within robust governance arrangements.

Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.

To arrange for an informal discussion please contact: Anthony Docherty Associate Director of Manufacturing: anthony.docherty@nhs.scot

The successful candidate will be required to undergo Disclosure Scotland check.
