Fantastic Lifestyle Changing Opportunity in Ayrshire and Arran

Associate Nurse Director – Infection Prevention and Control – Band 8C – (£73,506 - £79,221)

Here at Ayrshire and Arran we are delighted to have the opportunity to recruit to the exciting and developing role of Associate Nurse Director – Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT).

“It has been an honour and a privilege to lead the Infection Prevention and Control Service in NHS Ayrshire & Arran, especially as it has responded to the very significant challenges presented by the pandemic.  The team has recently undergone significant funding to support the development of new programmes of work, and as we move into the post pandemic world there is an ideal opportunity for a highly motivated and innovative individual to build upon the existing strong foundations and further develop the IPC service within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.”

(Bob Wilson, Infection Control Manager and retiring postholder)

As one of the most important roles in our organisation, you will lead our already highly skilled and expert Infection Prevention and Control Team.  The role of the IPCT is pivotal, now more than ever, and this has been reflected in significant investment, creating a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, or aspiring leader with the right skills, to continue to develop and grow this service while still early in the redesign phase.  As we continue to respond to the Covid Pandemic while rebalancing existing IPCT priorities, we need a pragmatic and measured leader who can make clear risk and evidence based decisions based on fundamental IPCT knowledge.  This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking for a leadership challenge in the IPCT space, to really make their mark, affect change and broaden their career experience.   Here in Ayrshire and Arran, you will have all the benefits of being in a small board, such as exposure and opportunity to raise your profile within NHS Scotland, while working within a community of supportive colleagues in the context of psychological safety and a clear shared vision.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is an innovative, improvement focussed Board with exciting transformational change plans in place for our services of the future. Our Board purpose is: Working Together to achieve the healthiest life possible for everyone in Ayrshire and Arran, and to achieve this we are committed to continual improvement in population health, service delivery and care experience.  We have a very clear strategic vision in terms of our Caring for Ayrshire ambition, and this unique and prominent role will have a real opportunity to influence system redesign.

In NHS Ayrshire and Arran our staff are our most precious asset and we are committed to investing in our workforce, both in terms of our Health and Wellbeing Agenda, promoting a culture of Psychological Safety and in developing our staff to be the best they can be. As part of this work, we have introduced our ‘Daring to Succeed’ leadership programme which is open to all new, existing or aspiring leaders, creating a close network of skilled individuals who have the tools to collaborate, innovate and work across boundaries within a fast paced and often complex and ambiguous environment.  Within a dual-operating system, we have the benefit of traditional hierarchy and robust governance structures, while having the ability to use extreme teaming and affect change at pace, without the usual barriers of a traditional system.  As part of our community here at NHS Ayrshire and Arran, you will experience a broadness of experience with the opportunity to collaborate and affect change across our system, which, together with our values and strong focus on culture, makes us a fantastic organisation to work for.
