The purpose of Public Health is to improve health and social wellbeing through taking a population wide perspective for Public Health improvement, focusing on tackling inequalities. This is achieved through the responsibility of working with individuals/families/groups/partner agencies to identify health needs, raise awareness of health and social wellbeing and through enabling/empowering people to improve their own health.
Within the Health Visiting function of this role the postholder will be accountable for a caseload, a clinical expert, provide Public Health expertise, and be a key member of the integrated Primary Care team and other multi-disciplinary groups as required.
The team leader role within this post encompasses leadership and management of the practice attached/aligned community nursing team and other nursing staff groups, where applicable, linking into the management structure of the locality.
The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration or Registered Health Visitor / SPQ in Public Health Nursing.
The post holder should be educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level with post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
Additionally, the post holder will possess comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice and specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice. They should also evi9dence a management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
