Looking for a new and exciting challenge? Then think about working in NHS Forth Valley in the heart of Scotland.

NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join the emergency medicine team.  The new appointment will join the existing permanent medical staff team of 11 Emergency Medicine Consultants, 5 Emergency Medical Practitioners and 8 Specialty Doctors, providing senior care and leadership to Forth Valley’s Emergency Department.

It is expected that the successful applicant will have a high clinical profile with the drive and initiative to achieve and sustain the highest standards of emergency medical care. The new appointment will participate in the on-site out of hours rota as part of normal job planned activity and will share with the existing Consultants, the supervision and shop-floor training of junior medical and nursing staff. Consultant support (remotely) is also provided to a nurse-led Minor Injuries Unit at Stirling Community Hospital.

NHS Forth Valley is undergoing a period of dynamic change in relation to the organisation of acute unscheduled care. This is part of a wider improvement plan which incorporates a new Flow Navigation Hub (FNH) and Urgent Care Centre (UCC) in line with Scottish Government directed service improvement changes and same-day emergency care (SDEC). There may be opportunities for the interested candidate to have job-planned sessions within this new service if interested.

You can look forward to a warm welcome and strong support from colleagues.  Our hospital is situated in the heart of Scotland, nestled against the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the Emergency Medicine department and meet key staff. Informal enquiries should be directed by telephone or email to Dr Prakash Shankar, Clinical Director, prakash.shankar2@nhs.scot Dr Stephen Feltbower, Clinical Lead, 01324 566132 stephen.feltbower@nhs.scot.

Applicants must have full GMC registration and a licence to practise. Applicants who are not yet in receipt of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR), are required to provide documentary evidence of eligibility to apply at the time of application (i.e. be within 6 months of CCT / CESR at time of interview).
