This is an exciting and challenging time for Public Health and Intelligence (PHI) and these Programme Portfolio roles will be integral in supporting Scotland’s health through Public Health Scotland in the near future. These posts are unique opportunities for experienced and qualified Programme Portfolio Managers to work not only in national health protection and strategic development, but also to provide leadership, support and collaboration as required. NSS PHI  works in partnership to deliver Health Protection and other data led services that enable and support a safer and healthier Scotland with NHS Scotland, the Scottish Government Health Directorate, NHS Education Scotland, healthcare providers, academia and others.

In line with the national reform aims of the Scottish Government’s Health & Social Care Delivery Plan, Public Health & Intelligence will become part of a new public health body for Scotland, to be known as Public Health Scotland. This means that as a result, all employees will be transferred to the new organisation which is anticipated to be during 2020/2021.

The successful Health Protection candidate will be a member of the Blood Borne Virus, Sexually Transmitted Infection, Immunisation and Respiratory Group and will have the opportunity to play a lead role in the co-ordination of data transformation for national IT transformation programmes including the Scottish Primary Care Resource System (SPIRE) and the Scottish Government led Vaccine Transformation Programme (VTP).

The successful SD candidates will work in a variety of exciting areas and projects including the leadership of a new Geospatial service as part of the Data Science Hub, and the delivery of new systems to support Primary Care across Scotland.

The dimensions of these roles provide a strong indicator of their importance and complexity. You will be educated to a degree level with a relevant postgraduate qualification, have a proven, successful track record in project, programme or portfolio management, preferably within an NHS environment.  We need you to have excellent leadership, influencing and change management skills.  The ability to analyse and interpret data and to communicate your ideas in a clear and concise manner is essential. You must be results-orientated and achieve those results working in partnership and with a keen eye to working collaboratively. It is vital that you demonstrate the values of NSS with openness, integrity, respect and care being at the heart of those values.

Candidates can be based at either Meridian Court, Glasgow or Gyle Square, Edinburgh with occasional travel in Scotland.

Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
