As a vital part of NHSScotland, NHS National Services Scotland’s mission is to enable and support the delivery of better health and better care, working in partnership. We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care.  As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development biomedical research and donor / clinical services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
We are looking for a friendly, confident and outgoing nurse to provide quality-nursing care for the regional Clinical Apheresis Unit based at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.  You will become a member of the nursing team helping to deliver Apheresis services including blood stem cell collection, plasma exchange and photopheresis.  Venepuncture and cannulation skills are desirable and good communication skills are essential for this role.  No experience in therapeutic apheresis is necessary as all relevant training will be given but experience in a closely related field such as Donor Apheresis, Haematology, Intensive Care or Renal nursing could be advantageous.
This post is primarily based at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, it also includes provision of a peripatetic service to support in-patient apheresis procedures in the Glasgow area and on occasion the national apheresis service.  The hours are 09:00 – 17:00 Monday – Friday. Following training you would be expected to participate in the Clinical Apheresis Unit on call service, (currently 1 in 6) to assist in the provision of an “out of hours” service for urgent and emergency procedures.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency

Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
