The post:

We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care.  As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development biomedical research and donor / clinical services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

The candidate:
We are looking for a friendly, confident and outgoing Senior Charge Nurse to provide clinical leadership for the delivery of quality-nursing care for Apheresis / Whole Blood based at Aberdeen
We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking nurse who can lead and effectively manage a large team. You will require strong communication skills, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential for this role. You will be self-motivated, proactive and an innovative individual with the ability to be flexible and react positively to on-going changing demands and priorities.
Knowledge of blood collection processes would be advantageous as you will be required to undertake venepuncture and medical selection duties. You must also be able to demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development working within the competencies framework.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. 

Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency

Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.

Location and working pattern:
Aberdeen & North-East Scotland Blood Donor Centre
30 Hrs per weekirregular and unsocial hours in a variety of unusual locations.

The position is based in Aberdeen; travel throughout the region is required at times. You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours. Hours will include weekends and late evenings.
