An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our Community Mental Health Team in the beautiful surroundings of Mid Argyll. The post will be based in Lochgilphead but with clinical input throughout Mid Argyll. Alongside colleagues in nursing, occupational therapy, psychiatry and social work, the CMHS provides a matched/stepped care model of psychological therapies including Applied Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Primary Care Mental Health and Guided Self Help to a mainly rural community. There are strong links with, as well as professional leadership from, the Department of Psychological Services in Inverness, and you will join a team of three other Applied Psychologists working within Argyll and Bute. You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Highland to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

 

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic regarding multi-disciplinary working and feel confident in working as an integral member of the community team. You will have clinical expertise in mental health attained through relevant experience and knowledge of current policies and interventions in order to provide a high quality psychological assessment and therapy service in the field of adult mental health, particularly working with complex cases. As well as working directly with service users, you will provide training, consultation and clinical supervision to colleagues who are using psychological approaches to their work.  

 

Applicants must be doctorate (or equivalent) level Applied Psychologists, be registered with the HCPC, and have excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills. The post has dedicated CPD & supervision time and the development of special interests in clinical areas & service delivery is encouraged.
