Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland’s (NES) vision is to support a skilled and sustainable workforce for a healthier Scotland.

As part of NHS Scotland, we are responsible for the development and delivery of a wide range of education and training programmes for the NHS, health and social care and other public bodies.

Digital technology is invaluable in empowering colleagues to provide the very best health and care for the people of Scotland.  It has proven especially valuable during the COVID-19 pandemic and we are excited about the many opportunities where digital can accelerate these opportunities.

The wide range and rapid evolution of digital services mean it is crucial we provide clear, up to date and effective training which ensures colleagues can realize the multiple benefits they can provide.

The Role

This is a new and exciting opportunity to be part of a newly formed team that will develop the digital capabilities and technology deployment and adoption across Scotland’s health and social care workforce.

KIND Healthcare….

Providing high-quality health and care is dependent on colleagues having access to the right Knowledge, Information and Data (KIND), at the right time and in the right place enabling them to make appropriate decisions.

Digital services mean KIND can be accessed in many new ways.  As Learning Lead for KIND, you will be responsible for developing and implementing training that enables colleagues to quickly adopt and make the best use of these in their daily work.

For example, you could be….

  • Showcasing how data can be presented using Microsoft Power BI.  Or upskilling yourself to then share this knowledge with the specialist workforce.
  • Demonstrating the functions, features and benefits within SharePoint that’s in line with our information and governance guidelines and GDPR.

KIND Colleagues

The specialist KIND workforce includes data and information analysts and managers, library staff and knowledge managers, as well as health and social care practitioner roles that have a strong focus on managing information.

Feedback from colleagues shows your work can make an immediate and positive difference…

“My core work is in implementing and spreading digital innovation. this course has shared many more options and people to work with to achieve this.”

“I have shared learning with my team and implemented the use of Agile principles in our team.  I have also used a number of tools we were introduced to on the course and methods of presenting data, as shared in the various excellent presentations.

Finally, I invited one of the guest speakers to a system-wide meeting in my board to speak about the work she shared with us.”

“Networking with other members in the Knowledge, Information and Data disciplines and understanding their roles was a key objective for me. This course gave me the opportunity to get to know the other participants,

I now feel confident reaching out to work and collaborate. I also now have a wider point of reference and know who I could ask for advice. My other main objective was to understand how to scale up technologies.  The wide range of speakers, techniques and methodologies gave much insight.”
