Who We Are


NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is an education and training body and a special health board within NHS Scotland, with responsibility of developing and delivering education and training for the healthcare workforce in Scotland.
 
What You Will Do

The key responsibilities of this role are: 

  • To support the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to enable HR to provide an exemplar customer service particularly for employee relations.
  • Provide advice on complex queries and manage complaints to ensure resolution.
  • Working across HR Business Support team to provide input, oversight and quality control to ensure a timely, accurate, efficient and effective monthly payroll. Able to provide payroll expertise on a wide range of payroll queries.
  • Responsible for data quality and information flow through daily use and checking of trackers and reports. Responsible for generating all system reports to be used across HR Business Support and addressing any anomalies prior to circulation.
  • Daily oversight of Workforce Service Desk volumes; managing and coordinating resource to priority areas as required. Responsible for identifying service improvement to Service Desk. Responsible for updating and amending Service Desk design and delivery in partnership with colleagues across HR and Digital Directorates.
  • To supervise and lead the workload of the Band 4s and Band 3s to ensure the workload for is evenly distributed and queries are resolved leading up to and immediately after payroll run - if practicable before escalation. Identifying any training requirements or issues.
  • To ensure accurate establishment control.
  • To support with Employee Relations cases, particularly on Absence Management cases, and at Informal Stage, and Stages 1 & 2 of relevant policies e.g. Grievance and Disciplinary.
  • Policy and process development.
  • To manage and develop the HR Team to measurable performance standards are achieved.
  • To be able to liaise confidently with key stakeholders
  • Post holder will be required to travel in Scotland

The successful candidate can be flexibly located; however, you will need to attend the Head Office in Edinburgh when required. You will also be required to travel in Scotland.
