Job Advert
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
Are you a skilled Dietitian with the passion and energy to demonstrate excellence in supporting children and their families and carers who are impacted by diagnosed eating disorders, and by other mental health and neurodevelopmental diagnoses impacting on eating behaviour, dietary intake and nutritional status?
Now is a great time to come and work in Specialist Children's Services. Our staff are at the heart of everything we do. We value and support career development with good opportunities for career progression. We are ambitious in our visioning for the future and are clear about the need to further develop integrated services that ensure children, young people and families receive the right support, at the right time and in a way that best meets their needs.
We are committed to providing person centred care, trauma informed care and compassionate care in order to help young people on the road to recovery. Our team aims to offer compassionate care centred in kindness and with the aim of supporting young people and their families through their mental health journey. As such, you will be required to be person centred and innovative in your thinking and practice, with excellent ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with children, young people, their families, health and partner agencies.
As an HCPC-registered Dietitian, you will work as part of a well-established, multidisciplinary inpatient team within Specialist Children’s Services, with support from a senior leadership team who fully embrace creative ways of working. You will have experience of realistic medicine in practice and of providing person-centred care which makes a real difference to physical and mental health outcomes. Together with your colleagues, you will deliver on a shared purpose to ensure the very best possible care to service users and their families and carers.
An exciting part of this role is the quality improvement focus, and you will be encouraged to develop robust, evidence-based screening and assessment processes, therapeutic tools and targeted support methodologies, whilst also engaging in collaborative learning, coaching and mentoring with colleagues across the areas you work.
The dietetic service in Greater Glasgow and Clyde has a strong commitment to effective and accessible supervision, wellbeing support and development of all colleagues working within the service. You will join and enhance an experienced team of Dietitians across Specialist Children's Services, where you will meaningfully contribute to the further development of an effective clinical supervision and reflective practice network, to support you in your role as well as your colleagues across your professional community.
A background in mental health and/or children and young people’s services is preferable, but all experience will be considered.
