Base Location: National Headquarters/Home Working- SAS is a remote friendly employer supporting office, remote and hybrid working.
The Scottish Ambulance Service has a proud history in relation to Research, Development and Innovation and we are currently seeking a highly energetic individual with extensive management and innovation experience to support and enable the delivery of the Service’s Research, Development and Innovation as set out in the Service Research, Development and Innovation Strategy, August 2021.
The covid-19 pandemic has changed our society in many ways and as we move to remobilise the country, the challenges that remain are significant and complex - rebuilding society whilst the virus is still in circulation, global cases rising alongside significant economic and health challenges. Research, Development and Innovation will be key enablers of remobilisation and renew programme.
The post holder will be educated to Doctorate / Masters Level, with appropriate senior experience to support the Associate Director in leading the Service’s approach to develop internal capacity and capability in order to develop and deliver its Research, Development and Innovation programme.
The postholder will be responsible for the management and operational delivery of all Research, Development and Innovation activity across the Service its supporting mechanisms and governance.
Working closely with and supporting the Associate Director (Research, Development & Innovation), the post holder will respond to current need, supporting the development of strategic plans and promoting forward thinking within the Service, horizon scanning and capitalizing on best practice across the wider NHS, Public and Private sectors to create a pipeline of innovation opportunities building a 5-year sustainable plan.
You will have extensive RD&I leadership experience ideally gained within the NHS with demonstrable evidence in leading and implementing strategy. You will possess excellent communication skills with experience of developing cost effective, evidence based business/operating models and be passionate about service improvement.
To be successful in your application, you will also have:
- Experience in designing measurement plans and using data for improvement.
- Experience of developing, writing and presenting business cases.
- Experience of building, maintaining and utilising partnerships internally and externally across a range of organisations.
- Experience of interpreting national policy and successful implementation.
- Effectively managed or contributed to managing departmental budgets including the recruitment, management and development of staff.
- Demonstrable experience of a flexible approach to managing a varied portfolio of changing objectives.
- Evidence of multi-disciplinary working across agencies to develop whole systems policies and procedures.
- Evidence of successful change management work.
This is an exciting new high profile role, pivotal in supporting the Associate Director & Board to develop and implement effective mechanisms throughout the Scottish Ambulance Service, to support strategic objectives and working in a sustainable basis.
