Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations. We are the Clinical Effectiveness workstream which is part of the Dental Directorate within NES.
The Clinical Effectiveness workstream supports healthcare professionals adopt and apply up-to-date knowledge and skills, facilitates the delivery of safe, effective and evidence-based patient care and promotes Quality Improvement. The workstream comprises four programmes of activity that work together to generate and synthesise research evidence, make national guidance recommendations and support their implementation. The workstream also has responsibility for supporting the development and implementation of specific Scottish Government quality assurance and Quality Improvement initiatives.
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual to join the Business Support team as an Administrative Assistant to support the Clinical Effectiveness workstream. This post has a flexible location.
What you'll do
The job will require you to work with a team of Dental Education Professionals and Business Support staff, providing administrative support to dental tutors for NHS Education for Scotland, in the first instance, however business support-shared services will require the post-holder to expand their skills to other workstreams when required.
Support and maintain appropriate and effective office systems to ensure a smooth flow for dental in-practice training bookings within the Quality Improvement In Practice Training team
Liaising directly with dental practices across Scotland to arrange individual training events for dental practices
As part of the business support team, to contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of office practices and standard operating procedures.
Deal with non-routine enquiries, directing to the relevant person.
To carry out a range of administrative tasks applicable to the business support services in the Dental Directorate and be able to provide cover for other team members as and when required.
You will also be expected to deal with email and telephone queries from a variety of professionals in a courteous and professional manner.
What you'll bring:
A good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
High level of interpersonal, organisational and communication skills and a pleasant manner.
Reception or customer service skills, with a helpful, flexible attitude.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines.
Ability to work within a complex and dynamic changing team.
You should have relevant experience in an administrative role and a knowledge of the NHS would be advantageous.
An effective team player, you will possess excellent organisational, communication and IT skills.
