Are you looking to make a difference to patient care in Scotland? Do you enjoy helping others develop their clinical careers? Do you want the opportunity to work in higher education whilst staying with an ambulance service employer?

The Scottish Ambulance Academy is based at Glasgow Caledonian University and facilitates the Diploma of Higher Education in Paramedic Practice. The Academy is a busy environment with up to 200 paramedic students per year coming through the programme.

To support this, we are seeking to recruit an exceptional candidate to join the education and professional development team. You will be helping to shape the development of education in the service and the wider paramedic profession. The successful candidates will be employed as an Associate Lecturer – Paramedic Practice with the Scottish Ambulance Service and also hold Associate Lecturer status with Glasgow Caledonian University, our delivery partner. We are looking for dynamic, flexible, enthusiastic individuals who can work as part of our established busy team.

Candidates must be a registered health professional (with appropriate post-registration experience) and should hold a first degree (or be currently working towards one), preferably in a healthcare related subject. In addition, they should hold or be willing to work towards achieving an appropriate level of teaching and learning qualification. They should be able to demonstrate previous experience of delivering education to students studying at SCQF levels 7 and 8.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the role of a module leader on the Dip HE programme. They will be expected to develop the modules learning materials and work to deliver quality education in innovative and imaginative ways for students from across Scotland. They will be expected to support other programmes within the Education and Professional Development Department and this may involve some travel.

In return for commitment to a very busy education department the successful candidate will have access to further professional development. They will also have scheduled clinical practice time, be able to contribute to the wider direction of travel of the department and work in an environment that upholds service values.
