An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new service being established within Prison Health Care. We are seeking to employ 3 Health Improvement Assistant Practitioners to deliver a range of Harm Reduction messages to people who live in prison. This element of the project is funded by Scottish Government and the Alcohol and Drug Partnership to work to reduce drug deaths.
You will be expected to operate as part of an extensive multidisciplinary team, delivering messages covering Alcohol, Blood Borne Virus and Drugs. As part of this we would expect you to establish and maintain strong effective partnerships with key organisations e.g. ADRS, SDF, Voluntary Sector & Recovery Communities as well as other Health Improvement staff who can influence and deliver in the Health Improvement and Inequalities work streams. Training will be provided on topic areas but an understanding of the key issues and messages will be required.
The post is peripatetic across all three prison in Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board area but will be based in HMP Barlinnie with an expectation to travel to meet the needs and demands of the service.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend the prison for a pre interview visit and information session before any formal interview.
The post is fixed term for a period of 2 years and will be worked any 4 days out of 7 predominately Monday – Friday with some requirement to work evenings and occasional time at weekends
